In the land of Ingary, where such things as seven-league boots and cloaks of invisibility exist, it is quite a misfortune to be the eldest of three. Everyone knows you are the one who will fail first, and worst, if the three of you set out to seek your fortunes.
Eldest of Three is a reference to Diana Wynne Jones's Howl's Moving Castle, in which Sophie Hatter thinks that she will come to nothing because she's the eldest. I am also the eldest of three siblings, and probably the one whose future is most dubious, so this resonates with me a lot (Sophie pulled through in the end, though!). I am a one-woman show over here, so this publisher is just me, for my works!
